Wow, what an initiation ! I am delighted and shocked, since ordinarily I only count limerick syllables, not my own posts.
And you make me a little guilty, Paul, that I have not visited my own blog much in recent months to post about my good friends Palestrina, William Byrd, Monteverdi, Agostino Steffani (met him last year), Corelli, Handel, Alessandro and Domenico Scarlatti, John Blow, Purcell, Pergolesi, Charpentier, Couperin, Rameau, J.S. Bach, J.C. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, Haydn, Gluck, Boccherini, Mozart, Beethoven, Cherubini, Rossini, Schubert, John Ireland, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Bellini, Donizetti, Berdi, Berlioz, Chopin, Liszt, Bizet, Delibes, Smetana, Dvorak,Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Faure, Saint-Saens, Franck, Johann Strauss, Wagner, Brahms, Max Bruch, Bruckner, Mahler, Richard Strauss, Korngold, Balakirev, Borodin, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Debussy, Ravel, Janacek, Grieg, Wilhelm Stenhammar, Nielsen, Sibelius, Delius, Elgar, Granados, de Falla, Copland, Gershwin, Holst, Vaughan Williams, Britten, Hindemith, Bartok, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Respighi, Rodrigo and all their friends.
.....didn't post about them for the worst possible reason, that I was afraid these friends were not the in crowd....
....and had only a tenuous superficial connection with my favorite film, although they had a deeper connection, having something to do with Depth itself...
But I have enjoyed every day of the time it took to reach 1000 posts, which in my case was - hmmm, over five years. And I feel privileged to know all of you in this strangely assembled but sturdy group.
To the next five years, Cheers!
