There's a storm coming in (not from the Pacific though).
It's classified as hurricane. It's already very stormy outside, with torrential rain. I pondered wether to send my kids to school this morning or not. Checked with the radio and the websites of their schools and the bus company. Everything goes normal, no school closings, busses run all right, and my area has the second highest alert level, so I did send them.
People are not asked to stay home, only to stay out of forests.

In contrast to all forecasts, what we had yesterday early in the morning was the worst we got of this storm. It was supposed to get worse, but thankfully never did. At least not in my immediate area.

Germany-wide it was a different thing. There was quite some damage, train traffic was cancelled in the southern parts, floodings, snow-storms, black ice, some Autobahnen barred, hundreds accidents with cars, uprooted trees and damaged roofs too many to count - everything what you expect from such a massive storm. One death.
