I felt sorry for Lolo. She had a rough childhood and moved around all her childhood, until high school when she put her foot down and told her parents she wasn't moving anymore because she wanted to compete in track and get to college.
So she stayed with various foster families so she could finish high school and get her scholarship I guess to LSU.
Shit, that's hard.
That was her foster mother and sister - I think - in the stands, their flag ready to wave - she had been the favorite coming into this and was on her way to a gold and just tagged that 2nd to last hurdle and lost out completely on medaling.
The look on their faces was tragic.
Lolo couldn't believe it. She stayed kneeling on the track for a long time, disbelief on her face. She had guts though. She faced a camera and said with good grace that she 'normally hits a hurdle once or twice a year, and it just sucks that it just happened to be this time around'.
Then she went in the back and cried.
She showed much better grace than that football player's fiancee who was the favorite in the 200 m {?} when she ran out of steam, and lost blamed a muscle cramp, though she didn't so much as rub her leg after she lost.
EDITED TO ADD: Shame about Lolo also, she's so beautiful, the commercial endorsements would have come flying in for her to make her a fortune.
