COLLECTOR'S EDITION DVD Release
« on: July 20, 2006, 12:56:32 pm »
There are some rumours of an expanded DVD hitting the market, in France and/or Australia. I would luv to hear about where this can be purchased. I have just about worn out the basic DVD I've had since April!!

Thanks for the link!

Anyone able to find out what the 2-disc set contains? My French is passable enough that I'm able to read the link or most of it - but though it does certainly say it's a 2-disc collector's edition I can't manage to see what, if anything, it says concerning what's on those 2 discs. The one customer comment and the product information is general info/comments about the story itself, not about the content of the DVDs as such.

New bonus material? Deleted scenes? Commentary tracks? etc? Anyone else here manage to locate more information on this? I'm dying to know!

I'm in the same boat - comprehend some, but not much.  I'm going to PM a few of our French-speakers and see if they can shed some light on this!

I remembered read a thread about this over IMDb a while ago.  If it’s the same one, then basically there is nothing that we have not seen.  Vaguely remember that the additional DVD or CD contains the short story and may be some promotional materials (?).

I hope I am wrong.

This is what I had an inkling it might be ........ it seemed very strange and downright unlikely that they'd just specifically release a French version of the REAL, BIG THING we're all hoping and waiting for, and with so lilttle fanfare or marketing......?  :-\

But I too hope that we're wrong in this, of course.

I'm afraid there's nothing new on this French version, based on the information at Amazon.  It lists the following for the second DVD:

DVD 2:
Le documentaire "Ang Lee, un réalisateur de coeur" (7 min)
Le documentaire "Etre cowboy" (6 min)
Du script au film (11 min)
Le Making Of (20 min

--a total of just 42 minutes, and it's all on the one-disk American version (I copied this in from American Amazon):

"Directing From the Heart: Ang Lee" featurette
"On Being A Cowboy" featurette
From Script to Screen: Interviews with Larry McMurtry & Diana Ossana
"Sharing the Story: The Making of Brokeback Mountain" featurette

Collector and Prestige BBM DVDs being released...
« Reply #8 on: July 23, 2006, 08:27:32 am »
In France only!

This week, 2 BBM dvds came out here:
* The collector's dvd, containing 2 dvds: one with the film, plus the trailer, plus several dozen still shots of the film and its making. The other with documentaries we've all seen: the making of the film (on how hard it was to get the project actually going); on being a cowboy; from film to script with Diana Ossana and Larry McMurtry; and an interview of Ang Lee. Most of the latter is on the British (and US?) dvd.

* The Prestige edition: contains all of the above, plus Annie Proulx's short story (in French), plus something which in French could either mean a card deck with pics of BBM, OR a bunch of actual photographs (probably the latter), PLUS a piece of the film that was used to shoot. Of course, this is a limited edition.

It would seem that there is never going to be any dvd with cut scenes or goofs, though.

The only thing that appears to be available on this edition, that wasn't available on the North American edition that I've got is on the 1st dvd - still photos (Photo Gallery <La galerie de photos >) and promotional clips/movie trailers <Les bandes-annonces>

The second DVD contains the same 4 shorts that have already been seen by all of us in North America - Wasn't this also part of the France original DVD release?

 - hardly warranting a double DVD!
