I realized that if I want to ever score the "purple first" points they're enticing us with now, I'll have to change my approach. What I usually do first is look for similar words spread in each line from the top to the bottom (occasionally with two on the same line), and they're usually relatively easy to find. Purples are rarely just synonyms, so I'd have to look for words often paired with some other word, or words whose first syllable is a homonym for a letter of the alphabet or words that if you remove the first letter become an anagram for an insect or whatever. Much harder when you're seeing all 16 words at once.
