Hello everyone, I'm back again!
Thank you Paul for updating everyone on my condition.
So, I had a fall on my usual walk in the park and broke my kneecap. At the hospital they put me in a cast, but I had to wait for 5 days for the necessary surgery. Every day they told me "hopefully tomorrow", but there were always more urgent operations that had to be done before mine. So finally they had space for me, I had suregery, was put in a new cast and stayed for a few more days. Now I'm home, with lots of technical aids and some help from the home care service. I can't bend my leg, but am allowed to bear weight on it, so I'm able to move around my place with the help of a walker.
Every little think I do is very slow, awkward and tiring, but I'm glad I can manage reasonably well despite that.
My wonderful neighbour comes over (across the landing) morning and evening to take care of the kitties, I'm so so grateful to her.
Next week I'm going back to the hospital to have the stitches removed and hopefully get a splint instead of the cast. They can then gradually unlock the splint to give me more and more flexion in my knee joint. The whole process will take around 6-8 weeks. I'm still on strong pain killers, so haven't really experienced any bad pain since the ambulance arrived at the park.
