And what does he do? Run up and down a field and kick a ball around.
Sorry to sound cynical, but I sometimes wonder about the priorities in this world.

No more out of whack than what CEOs make in a year.
I recall 10+years ago when the Travellers Insurance company announced it was closing the Observation deck on the Travellers Tower here in Hartford. The CEO said it was because it cost $30,000 a year to operate it.
It was quickly pointed out in an editorial that the CEO Sandy Wiel <spelling?> was making about $500 Million
a year in salary and stock. The Tower stayed open.
While I don't agree that Beckhams salary is justified, he will at least break a sweat while working unlike the CEOs who most likely never work an 8 hour day. They probably don't work an 8 hour month!
Another time I was working for National Car Rental as a service agent. (car washer) I had to deliver a car to the Travellers Tower parking garage. I saw a long line of shiny new Lincoln Towncars waiting by the exit door. a dozen or so cars, all with drivers waiting. I asked what the cars were for. I was told they were there to drive home all the Vice Presidents. It was 2 pm. Nice eh? Fat salary, great hours and a chauffer driven car to your house. And the insurance companies cry poor and give us crap about paying out on claims.
