Just as I imagined it would be, this "quiz" is overwhelmingly Anglocentric; folk here in Argyll couldn't care less about cricket or "toad-in-the-hole" (? How many folk in Kent know what sowens or skink are?) and - with no TV reception in our community - we cannot be expected to follow tacky English TV programmes. I was born in the US in 1948 - in a Gaelic-speaking Scottish family. My early schooling was in Canada, but I returned to Scotland at 13. I was never allowed British citizenship - even to this day, although I must pay my taxes to the British Exchequer and get harrassed weekly for not having a TV lisence (I don't have a TV; there's no reception here anyway). I was not allowed to continue my education for credit after the age of 17 nor to apply for a salaried job. I was made to leave the UK and re-enter at my own expense every year until, in my 30's, the EU agreed that I had Unrestricted Right of Domicile within Scotland. This is on account of the overwhelming dominance of England over Scotland; well over 90% of the directorships of "Scottish National" institutions are of English origin, and the same goes for officers in the "Scottish" regiments. Indeed, here our local museums and tourist boards are entirely staffed by English people and not a one of them speaks any Gaelic let alone any European language. Thus I work every year in the eastern Europe where I am free of Angolcentricity. Come on the day when Scotland can be an independent member of Europe and not England's silent servant.
