Did anyone else notice this

Hi I'm a new member so if this has been discussed forgive me.

Did anyone notice that when Cassie and Ennis are walking to the dance floor the first night thy met and she asks him his name he replies, "Ennis....pause...Del Mar". It is like he remembered what Jack has said to him when they first met, "Did your parents stop at Ennis?" and he says, "Del Mar".

Yes, I noticed that too. He was none too happy to be going out to dance with Cassie, huh?

Absolutely right Shasta.....Ennis was just going through the motions. Man..have I been there, but not anymore.

This has indeed been discussed before, but you are a hundert percent forgiven!
That's right: 1st with Jack, he has to be asked to tell his surname; 2nd with Cassie, he tells it of his own accord, after a pause; and finally when he introduces himself to Lureen at the end on the phone, he says "Ennis Del Mar" all in one go, as though he had learnt, all as if he finally knew who he was...

Oooooo, Isabelle!  I love that observation about Ennis finally saying his whole name of the phone to Lureen.  I'd never stopped to ponder the significance of that seemingly small gesture.  But, I think you're right.  It's maybe one of the first signs indicating how much Ennis changes following Jack's death.

Isabelle, that is a great observation! I've never noticed that before, and you're absolutely right.

But also, let me add that it is so nice to see you around, Isabelle!

Remember when we both on the VERY same day woke up and decided to add Pink Floyd's 32-year-old "Wish You Were Here" to the "Songs that Remind You of BBM" thread? Thinking about this, and it being late at night when I get in the mood to watch videos, I went and looked up the song on YouTube. If anyone's interested in hearing a British band's wonderfully Western-tinged evocation of Jack and Ennis' relationship, here it is:

I changed it as part of an April Fool's Day festivity, then afterward I just kept it.  :)
