"This film is dedicated to those grand old song writers of yesterday whose melodies are the folk songs of today. Their battle against the music pirates who robbed them of their just rewards, is the inspiration for this story."

Calling FRont-Ranger, the bookclub book was made into a movie in 1946!

From the novel by Owen Wister.

Actually the movie was made four times! And it was also a TV miniseries! But I still feel that there's another version out there that should be made--by CLint Eastwood or Ang Lee!!

http://www.altfg.com/blog/film-festivals/leave-her-to-heaven-screening/

Excerpt:

Leave Her to Heaven, released in the year World War II ended, is an unusual film noir (hence the quotes in the above paragraph) for several reasons:

It focuses on the female character — stereotypical tough guys are (mercifully) nowhere to be found in the film
It isn’t in black and white. In fact, Leave Her to Heaven was shot in glorious, lush colors by the masterful Leon Shamroy
It has a rural setting
Crimes and assorted psychopathic acts are committed in the daytime
Making the film noir label even more misleading, Leave Her to Heaven is much more melodrama than crime story.
[...]
Whether one calls it film noir, women’s film, shameless potboiler, gaudy kitsch, or what-have-you, Leave Her to Heaven is one of the best Hollywood films of the 1940s — one that showed (inner) pitch-black shadows looming in even the brightest corners of the “safe for peace” post-World War II period.

This is one of 26 Private SNAFU ('Situation Normal, All Fouled Up) cartoons made by the US Army Signal Corps to educate and boost the morale the troops. Originally created by Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) and Phil Eastman, most of the cartoons were produced by Warner Brothers Animation Studios - employing their animators, voice actors (primarily Mel Blanc) and Carl Stalling's music.

Mel Blanc does voice Private SNAFU in this one.
