"The Package/The Dance" by smiles-a-lot
« on: December 15, 2007, 04:55:00 pm »
Another series that started as a one-shot and has evolved into a wonderful, funny, and touching canon/AU with some very interesting OCs.  I think the author strikes a great balance in drawing the characters, which is not an easy achievement.

"The Package" has four parts:

Part One:  http://smiles-a-lot.livejournal.com/904.html
Part Two: http://smiles-a-lot.livejournal.com/1152.html
Part Three: http://smiles-a-lot.livejournal.com/1450.html
Part Four:  http://smiles-a-lot.livejournal.com/1896.html

and continues with "The Dance," which has 12 chapters to date:

Chapter 1:  http://smiles-a-lot.livejournal.com/2406.html
Chapter 2:  http://smiles-a-lot.livejournal.com/3022.html
Chapter 3:  http://smiles-a-lot.livejournal.com/3510.html

Chapter 5:  http://smiles-a-lot.livejournal.com/4446.html
Chapter 6:  http://smiles-a-lot.livejournal.com/6512.html#cutid1
Chapter 7:  http://smiles-a-lot.livejournal.com/6966.html

I'm giving this a bump and another rec - after a short hiatus Chapter 13 was posted a couple weeks ago and Chapter 14 today.

http://smiles-a-lot.livejournal.com/16544.html - Chapter 14

Very well-written!

I just restarted The Dance and am trying to catch up. Very well written with just enough touches of canon to keep it familiar but enough difference to keep it interesting. I promised myself I'd go to bed early tonight but I have a feeling I'll be up for awhile reading (just watched Candy which was probably a mistake).

Thank you Marie for recommenting and bumping this story. I read and liked The Package last  year, but somehow missed The Dance completely.

Thanks to your (and RouxB's) rec I reread the first story and read all chapters of The Dance today. All 18 chapters :o. Now you know what I've been doing today, lol

I second all your comments and the recommendation! :)

Hey Roux and Chrissi,

Glad to see you're both enjoying this story, too.  :)

Yeah, I hope you stayed up and read for a little while, Roux.  I'm not sure I could sleep right after watching Candy.  Sigh.....

And, Chrissi, all 18 chapters in a row - wow!  It's great having the chance to do that.  You get a different perspective on stories when you don't have to wait in between chapters.  I think Em said she's fairly certain she'll be updating every two weeks from now on.   :)

:) My daughter and I were watching Candy last night!  I've started it several times before, but never watched it all the way through.  I'll have to read smiles-a-lot's series.  I'm always looking for new BBM themed stories when I'm not writing my own.

Touching and sweet and funny and wild and happy.  All good things.   :)

Chapter 16 (which was posted at the end of July):

Chapter 17 (posted last week):

It's actually better to read the two of them together - a bit of a roller coaster ride, to say the least! I guess the end is getting near and I'll be sorry to say good-bye to this pair.
