Good Morning !

Yikes!   It was still 75 degrees Farenheit this morning when I peeked out the door at 5:00 am.  That explains why my air conditioners never shut off all night.

Another Texas like day in New England!   :P

The headline of the paper this morning reads: "IT'S A BLAST FURNACE OUT THERE. Oh boy, it's hot, we're worried. Here's a little quiz. What was the high temperature in Portland, ME yesterday? Remember, it is a blast furnance out there and it was 104 deg F in Childress, TX all day yesterday.

Portland, ME, high temp (degress in F)
1. 76
2. 83
3. 91
4. 99

The correct answer is 83, although the paper says, "it felt like 88."

I can imagine people are reading this, laughing to themselves that 83 degrees can be considered a "blast furnace" by any stretch of the imagination....

Todays newspaper says that it hit 96 here yesterday.  But with the high humidity it felt alot worse!    Todays forecast is for 97

Last night at the Cruise Night I went to, it was still 90 degrees at 7:00 PM !   Attendance was low and people were leaving early.  My friends and I were drinking one bottled water after another and we were melting.   I finally gave up and hopped into the PT Woody and drove home in chilly Air conditioning!   LOL

According to the paper (I think this is the first time I have actually looked at the paper in 6 months, maybe I am getting over Brokeback Fever? Nah, never happen...)...

The first half of 2006 was the warmest in the US since recordkeeping began in 1895. The average temperature (excluding Hawaii and Alaska) from Jan to Jun was 51.8 degrees, 3.4 degrees above average for the 20th century.
