False. When I was a kid, my Mom once had to choose between electricity and food and opted for the latter. My Dad sent her child support and paid the mortgage, but she didn't get any alimony from him and didn't work outside the home (his lawyer raped her, figuratively speaking), and she wasn't the greatest money manager in the world. I often felt like the sky was falling growing up because we were all literally living hand-to-mouth and one check away from the street. Then at 13, I went from that to living with my father in what seemed like the Taj Mahal in comparison - he had done very well with his business and was a millionaire by that time. I feel like I've lived on the opposite ends of the spectrum.
