Little mementoes of paradise for us to savor on a month-by-month basis. Thank you, Phillip, for all the beauty. I think it would be neat, if it were possible, to somewhere state the geographic location where each image was taken.
Hey, did you sneak off to Colorado over the weekend to get that shot, Phillip??
I felt it was time for some sheep!
That's a very beautiful picture Phillip. I'm starting to wonder how on earth I'm going to be able to take photographs in Alberta that really reflect the beauty and vastness of the place...
Take them with your mind's eye; smell the air deeply; touch the surfaces & textures you encounter; sit or lay for a while to just listen to, feel and sense the place; & remember the feeling of the place in your heart. Then, along with any "proper" photos you take you'll have the perfect memory.
I posted four in low-res starting here:http://bettermost.net/forum/index.php/topic,10186.msg199492.html#msg199492When I tried to upload the hi-res versions, DivShare wouldn't take them for some reason.
I like the Signal Ranch and think we can adopt that one as the banner is a bit stale.
WOW! These photos are simply breathtaking Phillip! I'll be coping them onto my computer that's for sure!I just stumbled across these by accident ... what a great site!!Susie
Hint, hint: Tent don't look right! Those Xmas balls up there in the banner are the size of apples!! And they are starting to grate on my New Year's eyes!! Git your new banner images here, or I'm sure you have lots from Alberta that haven't been posted yet! Thanks!!
Was the vantage point for this photo the Banff Boundary Lodge??
The January banner image is so beautifuland the colors are absolutely fitting to the board colors.- This combination makes the Design perfect! -
Here is a banner image of the Morley location from the movie shooting (taken during the Alberta pilgrimage)
Our image for January 2007:
I found a new scene for 2009. The only odd thing about it will be mostly noticed by those using a widescreen monitor. The peak of the hill is actually the dividing line between the end of the image, and a "mirror" of it. One of the problems we've had is with images that are not widescreen enough, which causes them to repeat for a growing number of folks who are moving to wider screens. This image wasn't wide enough either, but it was extended through a mirror trick, which is why there appears to be a lot of symmetry around that hill. The gift boxes and some other issues with our holiday theme will be retired shortly, especially the too dark message editor preview mode.
I nominate this beautiful snow scene for the January 2009 banner!!
That is so beautiful! Where is that?
I would guess it's a ski area in the West, because those in the Eastern US have more trees.
It's Phillip's photo, altho his travels, except for the Alberta pilgrimage, are around the proverbial coffee pot lookin for the handle, I gather!Speaking of gadding about, last weekend I was at a ski area even more beautiful than this. Closed down, too. It was just south a Brokenback Mountain in the Big Horns!! And Brokenback was just as beautiful and inspiring as always!!Here's a shot of the Cloud Peak Range just east of Brokenback, with a touch of alpenglow:click for the full size version!
I'm hoping those red bushes are willows, which turn red or yellow in the spring!
Applause, applause to our "12 Days of Brokie Christmas" banner author southendmd!! It's been quite an Epiphany to learn of all the Alma Juniors, Linda Higginses, etc out there!!
Have someone sneaked in to Sonja´s kitchen or what?
You really know your beans!
I kinda expected you to figure that out!!
it´s not like I had a lot of Swedes to chose between
What a great banner the current one is!!The two pics are soooo well chosen! It's impossible not to notice they are taken in the very same spot.
Well done, someone!
Paul made the banner.
In that case: well done, Paul!
Thanks! I actually took that photo of Henry, in the very spot.
I think I have a slow day at work today because I´m mimicking Jack´s facial expressions over and over again.
If you rehearse real well, you can give us a little performance in Alberta!!
We just hit 1,963 members.
What a fantastic banner up there today........congratulations to whoever is responsible.....
The banner photo of Ennis and Jack leaning against the truck is wonderful. I love the way it's rendered only in blues and browns.
Ennis and Jack leaning against the truck
I know that diner quite well. In fact there is a picture-postcard of it hanging right in front of me at my desk.
I had just googled "cowboy diner" and that was the best photo! Lee said it's pretty close to her, and that the steak and eggs are good (inexpensive too).
It's Davies' Chuck Wagon Diner on West Colfax Ave. in Lakewood, CO. The food is very good of its kind (I mean, it's diner food), and just inside the door is an antique barrister bookcase that is the envy of OCD and me. The diner folks use it to hold t-shirts.
Wonderful Christmas banner of the cowboys decorating the Christmas tree! Thank you so much to our little banner creation team. I know of no other forum that has such tasteful and regularly updated banners. We truly are BetterMost!
Here is the photo that Chrissi posted. Let's get in the mood for Christmas in July!!
Over here, I think Christmas in July is more of a retail thing, a way to have sales and entice people into stores.
Heath (Ennis), Jake (Jack), Michelle (Alma), Anne (Lureen)Linda (Cassie), Kate (Alma Jr.), Roberta (Ma Twist), David (Randall), Peter (Pa Twist).Maybe Anna (LaShawn) as well.I'm thinking of a collage of the actors, but not in their roles.
