Shut Up and Sing

Shut Up and Sing (it's a movie)

I sure hope this documentary plays within driving distance for you. It’s wonderful – thoughtful, and great fun.

Four of the reasons why it’s worth the drive and the ticket to see it in a theatre:
Like having front-row seats and back stage passes to Dixie Chicks’ concerts
Seeing some of their song-writing process
Audience reaction, and contributing to the audience reaction, to the music and to some politicians’ ‘thoughts’
Voting with your dollars for freedom of speech

This review says it all better than I can: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/11/17/DDGQKMDIME1.DTL&type=movies

on the mountain flying in the euphoric, bitter air

I've been looking forward to seeing this one.  I'll have to take a look-see to check if it's playing in my area yet.

No more beans!

I regret not seeing it at our film fest. But it was playing right after THE QUEEN which I saw. Can't watch two films in a row. I don't even like two movies, at a theater, during a regular weekend.  Yeah, those Dixie Chicks are quite spirited women, they say it like it is.

Not to mention that they've been thoroughly vindicated by the events of the last six years.

I was and still am very proud of the Dixie Chicks.  They are Texans for the most part and actually uphold the values of free speech that countryfolk are supposed to value.

The redneck hypocrites in their fanbase and other country music fans showed themselves for what they are - all about American values until someone disagrees with their version of it.
