It's five pages long, so I didn't want to make the biggest block on Bettermost.net.  ;)

I kept asking myself when the rambling would end and the article would begin;
and then after reading all the pages online I saw this:

For the full article, pick up the February issue of GQ.
Marshall Sella is a GQ correspondent.

Cardigan by Maison Martin Margiela.
T-shirt by James Perse.

Thanks KD500 for posting this.
It was quite interesting, if rambling.

Sorry about that. I thought at five pages, it was the full article. In GQ, it was five pages long, so I just presumed it was the entire article.  :(

It's not your fault Kd! Besides it's more accurate and provides more information than the summary posted by People Weekly on their site. At least for me it was good enough since I have no access to GQ magazine in English. Thanks for posting it!

What nic said: Thank you. Since we don't have any access otherwise it's the best we can get.

And I was surprised about the connection to River Phoenix. I didn't know Jake's mother wrote Running on Empty. Well, I'm sure I read her name some time, but didn't remember it or draw any connection to Jake. I liked ROE. And I like River very much, so I found this bit pretty cool:

“My mom would write a scene and ask me, ‘Is this how a kid would talk?’ ” he recalls. “It was really fucking cool. Things like sitting in on rehearsals with River Phoenix and Martha Plimpton when I was that age—that was cool. I guess I was first exposed to the process when I was, what, 8?”

^^^ Coincidence cos I picked up on that too, also liking River Phoenix.  Unfortunately he was the first famous person I took a real interest in that I later heard had died, so it was quite major for me as a young girl.  Unfortunately there have been many others since.  I do like Joaquin Phoenix now, great actor esp in Gladiator and as Johnny Cash.  I would like to see him in a movie opposite Jake or Heath.

Hmm, come to think of it, River Phoenix is about the only person I could consider as an alternative Jack.

Yes, I remember that day, too.

As Jack? Funny, I thought his performances/characters he played had some Ennis qualities to them: Mikey at most (from MOPI), but also Chris from SBM and to a much lesser extent some others.

Ah, I think I went for Jack first, cos I (as me) like River & I identify as Ennis in BBM therefore go for Jack on both accounts! But I see what you mean too.

Bought the mag-did not care for the article. Too much author and not nearly enough Jake.
