I got a dabble ..  :)

One of these days..

Today,
I miss you
I need you
I love you.
In vivid dreams
In recurring visions
In haunting nightmares
In sweet reveries –
I see you
Like never before.
Twenty years gone,
Yet they feel like a day.
Never enough time,
Just like you used to say.
Here one moment,
Gone the next.
Now you walk above me
My arms are weak
Though I long to reach for you…

Tomorrow,
I’ll miss you
I’ll need you
I’ll love you
The wounds might heal
The bleeding may cease
But the scars will remain –
Rough, unsightly;
Big enough for all to see
That my soul’s forever changed,
My life forever altered.
I will still mourn
All the unspoken words
All the undeclared affections
All the lost opportunities
And all the times I assumed
You knew what I really felt.
I hope you do forgive me
So I can pardon myself..

The day after tomorrow
I’ll still miss you
I’ll still need you
I’ll still love you.
Your love was like none other
Stronger than this emptiness
Stronger than death.
I will await the day we reunite
The day when I can hold you
And never let you go…
When that day comes,
We will walk above together
Carefree like we dreamed
Never again to be parted.
When that day comes,
I will lie in peace wherever I rest
‘Cause a new journey will begin
Towards you, my heart, my home.
All the withered petals will bloom
All the tears replaced by smiles
All the hurt forgiven
All the love returned
Like never before…
Jack, I swear…

.  . . .
Never did see Marla the Mystic after that first time. Know she was wrong, you know. Add up 19 and 19, and you get 38. Add that together and you get 11.  Add that and you get 2. Me 'n jack.

cwby - I always look forward to your drabbles, and this one is ingenious!

Thanks for expressing my feelings so beautifully, M  . . . and giving me such a sense of peace, too.

Such a heavy burden to bear!

Lucise, that was just beautiful! Thanks!

Up on Mount Olympus (Brokeback) they walked, they rode, they laughed and made love.
They lived a dream of a lifetime.  It seemed like nothing bad could every touch them,
It was clean air and clear water, and good times to spend.  But fate made them come
back to reality.  Joe Aguirre said "bring em down"  their hearts fell to the ground.
Then they knew that they were mere mortal, and had to face the real world of,
fear, hate and condemnation.  Ennis held the fear, wrapped within his being. He could no
more shed it than his own skin.  Jack broke, and pressed his heart within the pages of a
pair of shirts.. Like pages of a book.  He continued to bring it out from time to time, and
tried to read  again.   But he could no longer read the printed page....His heart was
replaced within the pages.  Every time he tried to make it live...Ennis didnt want it....so
"all they had was Brokeback"  the unearthly time on Olympus.  A time when they too
         lived with the gods.

I am a lover of Mythology so I couldn't resist a dabble today!
My mind occasionally goes weird places, so I hope this is not too bizarre..   ;)

Three Maidens...

She hums sweetly
Combing the tangled wool
Feeding her creaking spindle…
She starts to sing softly
Of things that are to be.
In a not so distant land,
A blue-eyed baby whimpers
Smiles into his mother’s eyes.
Soon he falls into sound sleep
Snug in her warm embrace…
His life thread spins
Round and round
Into the next maiden’s hands…

This maiden’s voice
Rings strong and steady
Her hands work quickly
Weaving soft and coarse threads
Into one solid cloth.
Her visions build the tapestry before her…
Three children sit around a table
Their hands folded, heads bowed.
A snowstorm rages outside
Covering two fresh graves
With a smooth, snowy white blanket.
The maiden ceases her singing;
She looks upon the snipped threads
In the cloth and hums a mellow tune…
The purple life thread stands out -
His had been a violent end
One the child had witnessed,
One that had marked his fate…
Forever.
The maiden resumes her song
Working busily on the cloth.
Then the youngest maiden hands it to her -
A line of coarse, bright red thread,
Destined to be the new weft of her loom.
She smiles and goes on a-weaving…
How the child has grown,
Tall, fair and tightly-woven
Like the threads in his cloth.
He holds the blue-eyed one in his heart,
The one whose vivid red thread dazzles
All over the boy’s cloth.
The maiden smiles…

The oldest maiden hums a sad tune
As she gazes upon her sisters’ efforts.
Her tunes make mellow music
Alongside the tireless voices
Of the overworked loom and rotating spindle.
She holds silver shears in both hands
And approaches a spinning wheel;
Her gaze rests upon the coarse thread.
The maiden at the loom bows her head
As silver shears descend upon
The bright red weft of her loom.
The maiden sighs…

Milli  we have both hit the sad note in the mystic valley of mythology..I love it too.  However it seems it always ends on a sad note......or is it just me?

Oh, that's excellent, Janice! - love the Mt. Olympus/Brokeback analogy - and the lines about Jack's heart within the pages of a pair of shirts are gorgeous!

I love Mythology, too - and I had vague thoughts of a spindle and shears but, wow, this is awesome - a Greek tragedy in four stanzas.  Brava, Milli!

Thanks,
Marie
