I do believe I have found the perfect song to describe our boys first tent scene:

Heartbeats- José González

One night to be confused
One night to speed up truth
We had a promise made
Four hands and then away
Both under influence we had divine scent
To know what to say
Mind is a razorblade
To call for hands of above to lean on
Wouldn't be good enough for me
One night of magic rush
The start: a simple touch
One night to push and scream
And then relief
Ten days of perfect tunes
The colours red and blue
We had a promise made
We were in love
And you, you knew the hand of a devil
And you kept us awake with wolves teeth
Sharing different heartbeats in one night

What do you think? Don't you agree that so applies to Jack and Ennis on their first night?

The song is actually a cover of an original by The Knives. It's very different - electro in style.  But I think this guitar based version is wonderfully appropriate for BBM.  It is on the BBM radio playlist!
Old Brokeback got us good and it sure ain't over

Wow, I never knew about the Knives version, I will have to check that out. I just heard this song today(on an advert infact. I know, how cultured am I?) and thought it was perfect for BBM, it seems Philip had the same idea when compiling the radio playlist. I think this song is perfect for BBM, I am not quite sure about the knives version cause I haven't heard it yet, but all I know is I love this version and it will forever remind me of the wonderful BBM. ;D

This past Saturday night, as I was eating my supper, I popped my CD of the Eagles' "Greatest Hits" into the CD player. Of course, as some of you young whipper snappers may not know, the years of the Eagles' greatest popularity correspond to the central years of Ennis and Jack's relationship.

I'm not saying the correspondence is exact, but this one really made me think of Ennis, especially in Don Henley's slightly hoarse voice, and especially that last line, "before it's too late."

"Desperado"

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
You been out ridin' fences for so long now
Oh, you're a hard one
I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' you
Can hurt you somehow

Don't you draw the queen of diamonds, boy
She'll beat you if she's able
You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet

Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can't get

Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no younger
Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home
And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin'
Your prison is walking through this world all alone

Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day
You're losin' all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you, before it's too late
"It is required of every man that the spirit within him should walk abroad among his fellow-men, and travel far and wide."--Charles Dickens.

Becky and Jeff - both your songs really do mirror BBM! Thanks for keeping the posts coming.

I am an Eagles' fan and I do like the song "Desperado" which belongs over in the CM and WM thread which I created.

Country Music and Western Music are two separate rural music genres. Marty Robbins sang Western ballads, Country songs and rock-n-roll pop songs, too. But, he was best at Western songs.

Well, this is probably going to sound silly, but I heard this Chris Isaak song, Wicked Game, over the Muzak while shopping at Bed, Bath & Beyond a few weeks ago, and it reminded me of Brokeback Mountain.

The world was on fire
No one could save me but you.
Strange what desire will make foolish people do
I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you
And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you

No, I don't want to fall in love
[This love is only gonna break your heart]
No, I don't want to fall in love
[This love is only gonna break your heart]
With you
With you

What a wicked game you play
To make me feel this way
What a wicked thing to do
To let me dream of you
What a wicked thing to say
You never felt this way
What a wicked thing to do
To make me dream of you
v And I don't wanna fall in love
[This love is only gonna break your heart]
And I don't want to fall in love
[This love is only gonna break your heart]

{World was on fire
No one could save me but you
Strange what desire will make foolish people do
I never dreamed that I'd love somebody like you
I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you

No I don't wanna fall in love
[This love is only gonna break your heart
No I don't wanna fall in love
[This love is only gonna break your heart]
With you
With you

Nobody loves no one

Ah Chris Isaak....love that song and a whole bunch of his.  I'm a huge Joni Mitchell fan, and while a lot of her songs are about love and love lost, it was hard to think of one that fits Brokeback.  So I'm going with this one called River, cuz I feel like it has a little bit of both Jack and Ennis in it.  If you've never heard it, it's beautiful.

River:
Its coming on christmas
Theyre cutting down trees
Theyre putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
But it dont snow here
It stays pretty green
Im going to make a lot of money
Then Im going to quit this crazy scene
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I wish I had a river so long
I would teach my feet to fly
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I made my baby cry

He tried hard to help me
You know, he put me at ease
And he loved me so naughty
Made me weak in the knees
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
Im so hard to handle
Im selfish and Im sad
Now Ive gone and lost the best baby
That I ever had
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I wish I had a river so long
I would teach my feet to fly
Oh I wish I had a river
I made my baby say goodbye

Its coming on christmas
Theyre cutting down trees
Theyre putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on

    Thank You Juan C
Yes Ennis and Jack should have a Christmas together
Here is my Christmas wish for them.

 Christmas Lullaby  © Melanie Safka

And when I remember
how good your love feels
The real world goes slipping away
And though it's just dreaming
I make your love true
And I'd  trade in this real world
for Christmas with you

I go to a wonderland
in the moonlight glow
When most of me is feeling alone
And we'll make snow angels
in the new fallen snow
And make tracks from our heaven
to the place we call home

And though it's just Christmas
is there anything else
Sometimes I awaken to question myself
Oh what fools, what children,
to follow the heart
For a dream
that might last just one night
But something that doesn't
speak English says do
And I trade in this real world
for Christmas with you

And something with wings
and speaks only in blue
Tells me trade in this real world
for Christmas with you

 - Remember their moonlit night, Jack dressed in blue, and that some of us say that he is like the sky and the wind.
Download Melanie singing the song for the full effect.

Is that THE Melanie? Do you have a link? I need something to listen to while weeding the lawn (in between ABC breaks!)

Oh, BTW, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young will be performing at Red Rocks, about a mile away from me, on my birthday July 17. I'll be camped out in the rocks above the amphitheater.
