So American! The entry door leads directly into the living room. I remember when I started noticing this in US movies and TV series. Always found it very, very strange, and still do.

In Germany the entry door leads to a corridor, even if it's only a small one. Of course, the extra corridor takes away space from other rooms, so I couldn't say one solution is better than the other, just that the American one is funny to me.
