Portmeirion, North Wales, Wales.

On a wooded hillside in its own little peninsula with romantic sea views, the tine town of Portmeirion, with campanile, piazza, fountains, and arcaded logga, is the creation of Welsh architect Sir Clough Willilams-Ellis.  Inspired, it is said, by a trip to Portofino, he built this Italianate folly of a town piecemeal from 1925 tp 1975.

That's such a pretty building.  I always wanted to read more about ancient Byzantium and the Ottoman Empire (and I have a few books on those subjects).

I do wonder about the mental states of the people who really felt this was the time the rapture would happen.  I'm hearing stories of those who quit their jobs, spent their life savings, sold their properties, and on and on.
