"T" is Tales from the Darkside: The Movie (1990)
« Reply #4186 on: June 23, 2008, 05:58:44 pm »

IMDb:  Tales From the Darkside: the Movie was a very entertaining film. It has four stories in it. The first is a wrap-around story about a woman going to cook a ten year old boy for dinner, yet the child reads stories to her to try and delay his death. In a way, this is related to tales of the Arabian Nights. The three other stories are the ones told by the young boy. All of them are actually very interesting, have elements of fright, are generally well-acted, and have some kind of message. One deals with an ancient mummy out to avenge a smart yet socially outcast student at a college. Another story deals with a malevolent cat out to duel with a hitman paid $100,000 to kill a cat. Gruesome but great story with some real good acting, especially by William Hickey. Love that voice! The final story deals with a relationship between a gargoyle and an artist. An intriguing tale and has Rae Dawn Chong in it(a nice asset). All the stories are well-made and well-written, the wrap-around story being the weakest due to its resolution. Nonetheless, Tales From the Darkside is a fun horror film in the vein of Tales From the Crypt and Creepshow.

=aside=
My friend Michael McDowell ("Beetlejuice") was one of the writers, and I accompanied him to see some of the filming.  James Remar was a lot of fun to talk to.

"V" is Voodoo (1995)
« Reply #4188 on: June 23, 2008, 08:42:37 pm »

From IMDb:  Corey Feldman stars as a college student transfaring schools to be with his girlfriend. Upon arrival he gets a lukewarm response from her and has nowhere to go. Desperate for a place to stay, he joins a fraternity with a bad rep, but this is no ordinary frat house. All of its members are zombies who pratice voodoo and kill anybody that gets in their way. Unexceptional but entertaining film has an appealing cast, some clever moments, and is fairly suspenseful from start to finish. Better than you would expect.

"W" is Weasels Rip My Flesh (1979)
« Reply #4189 on: June 23, 2008, 09:02:45 pm »

IMDb:  Quite possibly the worst movie ever made. EVER. Seriously. Well into the negative stars for worst plot, worst acting, worst monster, worst special effects, worst mad scientist, worst illicit laboratory, worst secret agents, and worst accents--New Yawk positively dripped from each syllable. Okay, maybe Joisey, too. Overall, I'd have to say that if a dozen mentally-deficient eight-year-olds on a terminal sugar-and-Ritalin binge had made "Weasels Rip My Flesh (more accurately, "Movie Ate 75 Minutes of My Life") with some WWII vintage 8mm film, a pile of butcher-shop leavings and a buck ninety-five, it couldn't have been worse. Ed Wood would have shot himself if he had been connected to this gobbler. It was made as a joke? Sorry, but it flopped. Whatever else you may do in your life, MISS THIS. Don't even watch it for a MST3K fest unless you have plenty of mind-altering substances available and a group of 'bots with absolutely no self-respect or taste whatsoever. Bad. Bad bad bad bad bad BAD. I won't even mention the blatant rip-off of the end-theme from "One Step Beyond". Okay, so I did. So sue me...JUST DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE. You have been warned. I disavow any further responsibility.
