MIchael Caine starred with Maggie Smith.

Plot: 4 totally different and separate stories of guests in a hotel. Maggie Smith and Michael Caine came from England to attend the Oscars; Jane Fonda came from New York, Alan Alda is her ex who lives in California; in the slapsticky part Bill Cosby, Richard Pryor and their wives come to the hotel to relax and play tennis and find there is only one room vacant; in the fourth segment Walter Matthau has come a day before his wife for his nephew's Bar Mitzvah, his brother: sends a prostitute to his room.

It's hard to believe that Neil Simon was so popular for a while!  I remember seeing his Chapter Two (w/ Marcia Mason) on Broadway back in the day - It was the only show available from the TKTS booth - I was with a friend, both of us high on acid and still we hated it, lol!

Michael Caine starred with Steve Martin in this film.
Plot:  Lawrence and Freddie are con-men; big-time and small time respectively. They unsuccessfully attempt to work together only to find that this town (on the French Mediterranean coast) aint big enough for the two of them. They agree to a "loser leaves" bet. The bet brings out the best/worse in the two. Interesting twist at the end.

Trivia:  originally conceived for Mick Jagger and David Bowie!

"F" is Flawless (2007)

Michael Caine played Mr. Hobbs in "Flawless."

From IMDb:  Heist movies are among my favorites and this jewel (no pun intended) is among the best. Superb acting by Moore and Caine, excellent direction and a great script add to a very enjoyable movie. Too often today, movies don't take the time to develop a story or get the audience involved with the characters. This one does. The atmosphere of the film (early 60's)is extremely well created. The film has a strong jazz score which adds to the films atmosphere. This movie has an engrossing plot with no gimmicks or over the top action. The ending, which is so important to the total film experience is very cleverly done while the solution to how the heist was "pulled off" is not easily guessed. I'm hoping that people will give this movie a chance. It will keep you involved. Highly recommended.

Michael Caine plays Jonathan Lansdale in this Oliver Stone Horror film that I've never even heard of...

Plot: Jon Lansdale is a comic book artist who loses his right hand in a car accident. The hand was not found at the scene of the accident, but it soon returns by itself to follow Jon around, and murder those who anger him.

"J" is John Goldfarb, Please Come Home (1965)
« Reply #4507 on: July 23, 2008, 06:39:05 pm »
Sir Michael starred in Bewitched and Gambit with Shirley MacLaine, who starred in this film.

Plot:  "John Goldfarb, Please Come Home" is a farce seemingly typical of the '60s. The story centers around a bumbling pilot and former college football player who finds himself as coach of a ragtag football team in the Middle East. William Peter Blatty, author of "The Exorcist," wrote this comedy (hard to believe!). It's a movie full of political incorrectness. Peter Ustinov is at the heart, playing a crackpot Arab sultan. And Shirley MacLaine does a memorable turn as a female reporter going undercover in the harem. She does a unique belly dance here! Of course, a movie like this couldn't be made today. But let's just look back and enjoy the laughs, shall we?

"L" is Last Orders (2001)
« Reply #4509 on: July 23, 2008, 06:55:38 pm »
Michael Caine plays Jack in this film.

IMDB Plot: Jack Dodd was a London butcher who enjoyed a pint with his mates for over 50 years. When he died, he died as he lived, with a smile on his face watching a horse race on which he had bet, with borrowed money. But before he died he had a final request, 'Last Orders', that his ashes be scattered in the sea at Margate. The movie follows his mates, Ray, Lenny and Vic and his foster son Vince as they journey to the sea with the ashes. Along the way, the threads of their lives, their loves and their disappointments are woven together in their memories of Jack and his wife Amy.
