How do you handle anger?
« on: December 05, 2008, 02:37:59 pm »
I'm trying to find more constructive ways to express and/or cope with anger, and I'm wondering how you all do it.

How about an "other" option? :)

Hmm, maybe a good old-fashioned temper tantrum!

(Oh, you said "constructive"...)

How do I handle anger?

I usually race here and go to the "Bitch, bitch, bitch" thread and get it all out.  ;D

Then I copy it to all my friends - NOT to the people making me angry.

And that's because it would be useless to lash out at those people - my sister
or detrimental to my pocketbook - my bosses

I always try to talk to people I know, and let them know what is getting under my skin .   The same with
bills you disagree with or prices you think are unreasonable.  But if someone that is just rude, or you dont even
know them.  It would do no good to try and reason with them.   usually.

In some cases you might even be taking your life in your hands..  I believe in picking your battles..

I forgot, I meant to include BetterMost answers on there. I'll add them now, belatedly.

I voted for drinking and eating too much and brooding and other.  Basically, I don't handle anger well at all.  I internalize it.  And I'm not even sure why.  Somewhere along the line I learned that it was not OK to be angry.

It's something I'm working on.  I wish I could be one of those people who take their frustrations out at the gym!

I will listen to music, something with a quick tempo to help diffuse the anger.

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

If I am with the person who is making me angry, I just give them a stare that says...."you know you made me angry, I'm not gonna say anything, but if you do it again, everyone's gonna hear what I have to say".....
Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect.

It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfection
