Well, well, well, I'd heard about the Naked Cowboy, but I didn't realize he was so....gifted.
Perhaps we should invite him to the next Broncho.
Friends, John Gallagher sends his love to you all! Jenny and I met him for drinks over near Grand Central, and we talked for two solid hours about all things Brokeback. He's a very young 50-something with beautiful long silver grey hair and a fabulous smile and is as funny and sweet in person as he is online. When I get my pictures back in a couple of weeks (I have to use up the roll of film) you'll see for yourselves what a hottie he is!
He's doing really well and is in good spirits. Some words don't come easily to him, but by and large you'd never know he had had a stroke only three weeks ago. He says he still has a lot of trouble reading, but for some reason Leslie's fanfic is an exception!
He is working several times a week with a very good therapist and will eventually be having a procedure (non-invasive) to close a hole in his heart that is a potential danger if he has a clot again.
Celeste called and chatted briefly, and we left a message for Clarissa. I gave John a bag of Anke's gummi candies, a miniature sheep and coyote from Sarah, a bandanna, and pictures of the gang at the Broncho, and Jenny brought two little silver cowboy hats for his key chain. He hasn't figured out how to listen to the audio yet, but he will soon.
We talked about how much we would have loved to go to Alberta this summer, but since it can't happen this year, we definitely want to go next year. In the meantime, Central Park will have to fill in for Moose Mountain. We're going to do a picnic one of these days when the weather's nice. Anybody know a good place to buy elk meat sandwiches?
