I got that photo from a lady who lives on the border between France and Germany (in the Saar? I don't know how to say it in English!) She lets me practice my German on her--it's GREAT, and I had heard about this picture but had never seen it.  Is it turned 45 degrees, or not?

This is just my observation but look at both of their faces.  Totally different expressions.  Jack looks so happy and calm.  Ennis looks confused but also a look of relief.  Jack accepting, Ennis willng but maybe not so much acceptance.

Actually, I like the rotating of the picture because the line of their noses makes a Yin-Yang symbol.  :)

..AND she's our latest member, "libertyangel."  She thinkls she can't speak English, but I bet she can speak enough. Anyway, it's her you have to thank for the beautiful picture. So thank her, in some language!

Yin-yang? I thought it was a circle, half black and half white, each half with a tail dovetailing into the other, and in the center of each half, a tiny citrcle of the other color..../no?

That's an exceptionally beautiful image you shared there, libertyangel. Earth and sky/wind have been much invoked in regard to BBM analysis (with Ennis as earth and Jack as wind), but the fire/water complement is more unusual. There is something profoundly elemental to this film and story, isn't there? Some kind of archetypal, primeval power resides there, and I think this is one reason that the film reaches so deep into our cores and stays there.

Cheers,
Scott

Libertyangel,
The pictures you made are beautiful and true.  I hope you have, or will make, many others, and post them here.

The video with music from Bach's third Suite is also wonderful.  It lets us experience these images in a new way, no longer bound to the time and place in which those men lived, but freed into a realm they must have experienced only rarely, and in dreams.

Whereever it comes from, libertyangel, I hope there are a lot more from that artist!

I do like these as big as they are, I don't mind scrolling to the right.  Sometimes however, when I post my own pictures, I do want them all to fit on the window at one time, so I edit the width.  After I copy the URL and cliick on the Insert Image button, I edit the   [img]  on the left to say   [img width=300] and then the Preview button to see how that comes out.  Depending on the picture, I edit the width up or down until it previews to the right size, then I post it.

When you are looking at someone else's pictures and they don't all fit in, one thing you can do is to click on the posting person's name at the upper left of the post, then click on 'show the last posts of this person' near the bottom of their profile window.  The window that comes up doesn't have the column for advertising on the right, so the whole picture may show without scrolling.

It's nice to be able to control it, isn't it?  Those two pictures are so rich in detail that I think they would look well in a width of around 700.

And I really do also like them the way they were originally put up, especially since they were such high-resolution, high-pixel images.  There's something appealing to me about an image that's too big to be taken in all at once - like a feast that's beyond what we can eat at one sitting.  Both of them have the scale of myth.

So beautiful.  It quite took my breath away.  A thousand thanks,
Ennis and Jack, the dogs, horses and mules, a thousand ewes and their lambs flowed up the trail like dirty water through the timber and out above the tree line into the great flowering meadows and the endless coursing wind.

Sorry I have only the translate in Frensch! :-\ But Rooland, tu pourras le traduire en anglais si tu veux!  ;)

En Francais

Peut-être, peut être, peut-être

Toujours, quand je te demande
Après le quand, comment et ou
Du me réponds toujours
Peut-être, peut-être, peut-être

Et les jours passent
Je suis désespérré
Et toi, toi tu réponds

Peut-être, peut-être, peut-être

Tu perds ton temps, pensif, pensif
Pour ce que tu aimes le plus
Pour quand, pour quand

Et comme ca les journées passent
Je suis désepéré
Et toi, toi tu réponds

Peut-être, peut-être, peut-être

Je viens juste de voir la vidéo!
Je l'ai aimé énormement.
Great to hear the song in its entirety.  :)
