The
Times had a piece about
Wuthering Heights today, including this excerpt from Emily Bronte's book:
"My love for Linton is like the foliage in the woods : time will change it, I?m well aware, as winter changes the trees. My love for Heathcliff resembles the eternal rocks beneath: a source of little visible delight, but necessary."
The author, A. O. Scott, goes on to describe rocks as cold, inanimate things. I don't agree! Rocks are alive, but in a different time frame, geologic time. Rocks have a life cycle, they take in and give off energy.
And yes, Kate Moss's version is prominently featured.
