Indeed.  Hospital dramas are known for that.  My favorite from St. Elsewhere:  Howie Mandel, waiting for the elevator:  "Hold that Otis, Nurse Redding."

  That is a good one!

Anybody else catch the Peter Sarsgaard interview in Parade magazine this last Sunday?

Sad to say, sounds like he and Maggie's career goals are already causing friction in their marriage.  Like most Hollywood double-career couples with children, they seem to have made an arrangement that if one is working the other isn't.  In this case, Peter admits to losing out on a role he would have "fought for" because Maggie was working and he had no one to leave the child with.  The interviewer asked if he was "resentful" and he said no, he was "disappointed."

IMO, he doesn't sound like a man who enjoys being with his child as much as he prefers to be working.

to me it sounds like a person who speaks honestly about his emotions.
Doesn´t mean he would have made other choices if he could do it all over again, though.

House quit his job at the hospital. He was told in response, "You can't quit!"

He replied, "You seem to have me confused with Jake Gyllenhaal."

(House, unlike Jack, did know how to quit. ...)

Love all references to BBM! Very clever!

thanks for alerting us to it, Jeff

Well, you know what they say about guys.  If they give you an honest answer, they mean what they say.   Sarsgaard gave an honest answer - he's not happy to be stuck with his child when there's a movie he wants to make.  Doesn't bode well.

I can't read that out of the short excerpt posted here (and I don't know the whole interview).
I can understand that he is disappointed about losing a role he really, really wanted. Every parent misses out great opportunities due to their commitment to their children. And I think it's completely normal to be sometimes wistful/frustrated/disappointed about it. Doesn't mean you regret having made this commitment.

I like this!!

Although I'm trying to wrap my mind around the idea of House watching and *liking* Brokeback Mountain, and I just can't do it! Perhaps this reveals his deeply hidden human and decent side at last??

Yeah. He probably watched it just for the opportunity to mock it as the story progressed - or possibly for the chance to see Anne Hathaway's boobs.
