Hiya BetterMost friends!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well!

I've been ordering stuff online, and it all seemed to arrive this week.   I ordered some new clothes, two light-up shamrocks to replace the ones I had that had blown out (they're now up and lit in the windows), and finally, two expandable spice racks, not being used for their intended purpose.

I have a collection of pins that I've posted before, and they were all displayed in rows, but you couldn't see the ones in the back.  The shelf was 18 inches across, and when I looked for figure stands, they were either too short or too long.   I accidentally found the spice racks, and they easily expanded to 18 inches, and now the pins are displayed properly.

Yesterday I placed an order for groceries, to be picked up today.  So, before I went to get my groceries, I had a text from the supermarket to let me know the order was complete, but three items were not available, and would I like to accept the substitutions.

Normally, the substitutions are a similar item.   Example:  We are out of Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice.  Would you like Ocean Spray Cran-Grape Juice?

I had ordered some bacon bits to put on top of my salads.   This is what I saw when I opened the text:

We are out of this item.

Would you like this as a substitute?

 ??? ??? ??? ???

I'm curious about what people are giving up for Lent. I've never done Lent, so I don't have an answer. But I know some of you do, and I'm interested in the practice.

I'm not doing anything for Lent this year.   When I was younger, I went through the "sacrifice" of giving something up.  Usually soda or treats or something.  In later years, I would buy something instead of giving something up, and then after the 40 days I had 40 items to donate to a food kitchen or animal shelter.

I have friends whose strict Catholic parents would make them give up candy for Lent, then hang bags of candy over the dinner table.

Their strictness did not produce particularly well-behaved kids. One of the two sisters now operates a pot farm (it's in CA and I think has always been legal, but would not have been her parents' choice of career). The brother spent a short time in prison for money laundering or something like that. More reinforcement of my belief that nature, not nurture, determines behavior.

They're nice, though! I'm friends with the two sisters and was friends with the brother before he died about 12 years ago.

Hiya BetterMost friends!!!!

Work has been busy this week!!  After the news of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank, there were people who were very nervous, I had to field many calls!

On top of that, there were increased calls to us about opening accounts, businesses wanting to move their funds to us.

I'm glad it's almost over,  and that Fridays is here.

Is anyone doing anything for St. Patrick's Day, or the weekend?   I have a birthday party to go to tomorrow afternoon, and then a St. Patrick's Day dinner on Saturday evening.
