I find the T.V coverage here so hit and miss. I did not have any idea that Britain had its best year for medals in 100 years. No mention of any of that here.
I only found out because we get an English newspaper here on  Sunday.Until then I thought only USA, China and the odd Russian were competing.!!

I know back in England from what friends tell me, that the T.V coverage has been much more consistant.
Now I know England needs to cover more countries sa we don't get an enormous haul of them ourselves.
It just would be nice to see more general airing here.
I also know that there is a big time difference, but I somehow managed to miss all the tennis. However at least I got to see the gymnastics and swimming. So can't grumble to much.

China does NOT let out much news, by blocking the USA news sites... and others still, optom!

But it must let out some as the BBC have shown far more of the olympics than has been shown here.

Only some optom! Some journalists have been physically beaten or put in jail, menaced, etc., by China, so say reports which continue!

Do you know what is especially exciting to watch I've learned - the BMXing..

It's amazing - you have to be extrmely skilled and fit to do that. Such a shame our Brit girl Shanaze reade (the world champion by far) didn't win after she clipped someones bike - but as she said I came here to get the Gold... and so I went all out to get it, I'm sad it didn't pay off but what can I do.

You can see avideo of the final here - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/cycling/7575946.stm

Also Usain Bolt is amazing! A trhird gold & world record! Did you see the end of it - he beat the netherlands crossing the line even though he was jogging after the person he handed the baton to!!

again - you can see a vid here http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/athletics/7576737.stm

And glad to see Belgium get a medal to get them off the mark on the medals table in the 100m womans relay... serves Jamaica and GB for being too cocky! Blooming GB dropped the baton on both the male and female 100 relay.... ugh!

Oh also...
This: http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/news?s ... p&type=lgn is my new favorite story.

Kicked out bc of your underpants?? How insane is that?!?! The coach did a good job taking one for the team, though.

And this coach is a d*ck!

Oops.  Me and my friends at work were laughing at this newest 'sport'.  It looks like it takes the skill of a 10 year old boy.  We have 13 year olds racing on higher hilly ground than that track out in the country.  And the contestants wear these heavy huge helmets like motocross wannabes.  Seen the helmets the regular bicyclists wear?  How about the equestrians who are riding cross country jumping and racing at up to 20 mph on a 1 ton animal?

Silly sport, IMO.

No, both me and husband were gobsmacked when we saw the Sunday paper. They hardly get a mention here. I have not seen one Brit. medal being won.Have seen a heck of a lot of the womens beach volleyball, which I can't stand. None of the equestrian events, no rowing. The gymnastics coverage was good, but that was about it for me, apart from a bit of mens diving, purely for the voyeur aspect. A fine way to end the day !!!

I've been hearing quite a bit about the British athletes, but only because I frequently visit the BBC website. Fiona is quite right Kelda, scarcely anything is mentioned here about the British teams. It's a shame too, because many of us over here would like to hear how the other teams are doing, as well as have a chance to cheer them on sometimes.

The BBC even had a HYS forum question about the British athletes. The question was something like "Do you think the success of the British athletes will inspire more winning athletes in London's 2012 Olympics?" I'm paraphrasing but it was something like that.

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.
