Supper tonight included my own homemade mashed potatoes. And I realized that I prefer my own homemade mashed potatoes to any restaurant mashed potatoes I've ever had. I make no claims for my mashed potatoes; I'm not bragging on them, claiming I make the best, or whatever. I'm just saying that I prefer my own to anybody else's--except my dad's, and he taught me to make them. That was always his job, for some reason, to mash the potatoes.

Supper also reminded me why I hate to cook: Because I have to clean up afterward!  :P

I'm the same way, but I refuse to let dirty dishes/silverware sit in the sink unwashed.  Ugh!

I never let washing up spoil a good dinner. Especially if I have had a wine with my dinner which is most often. I usually only wash up once per day, after breakfast. But then I am a morning person, up soon after 6am but in bed by 9.30pm.

I heard on TV news this morning that there is a shortage of Velveeta.

Gasp! What ever shall we do??  ???

I am much happier with my diet since I started living on my own. I typically have whole grain cereal with berries, fruit, and/or bananas in 2% milk for breakfast, or I have one egg and a piece of toast with olive oil and herbs and spices. For lunch, I typically eat cooked vegetables, bits of leftover meat, and maybe some grains or some cottage cheese. For dinner, I almost always have soup. But last night I ate 3 crackers with cheese, smoked salmon and capers. With this diet, I need have no fear of overeating or gaining weight.

When I was in Nepal, I got in the habit of eating soup in the evenings. Now I am so used to it, anything else tends to upset my stomach.

I always thought that Velveeta was colored and flavored vegetable oil and was not a dairy product, but apparently it is, although processed out of all recognition:

Happiness is opening a fresh, new jar of peanut butter.  ;D
