Does anyone here know how to remove red dye from dog fur?

I'm not going to go into all the details of how this happened, but Cody has some red dye spilled on him and I can't get it off.

Any ideas?

Well, I'm going to go ahead and put him in the car and head over to Dad's, and I'll deal with it there.

I can't believe this happened.  >:(

What kind of dye is it?
Most of the stuff I know of to remove a dye you wouldn't want to put on your puppy dog.
Maybe try rubbing alcohol. That should be safe and may work.

It's liquid humming bird food (concentrated mix) I bought at the store. I was filling my humming bird feeders and some of the concentrated mix spilled on my dog. I got the stickiness off of him, but the red dye remained. I'm at Dad's house now. I'll try applying some peroxide to his fur, and if that doesn't work I'll use some rubbing alcohol, but I don't think Cody will like the smell. We may soon find out.

Thanks Richard! :)

Well, if you can't get it off -- Cody might sport a "punk" hairdo for awhile!

I know that a vinegar/water solution is used on stained hair -- you know how white dogs get that brown stain around their eyes. You could try that if the alcohol doesn't work.  ;)

That's a good idea too. The vinegar and water. How much vinegar should I use. If it's too strong, he won't have anything to do with it and run away. I would have to dilute it. I got some of the red off, but now his fur looks pink. I think I'm going to just snip it off. The red didn't go down very far, so he won't look as weird as he does right now!

My poor baby!!! :'(

½ cup Vinegar to a quart of water sprayed onto the coat of a dog works like a vinegar hair rinse. Their coats gleam! An extremely economical alternative to expensive show shine products.

That's for shiny coat. You could probably use the vinegar a little less diluted for stain removal.

Dad and I went for a walk in the woods today. There is a stretch of woods next to the golf course near his house, and he likes to go down there and look for stray golf balls. Anyway, I took a bunch of pictures, and I'll post some more tomorrow, but I thought I'd show you these two now because I'm always seeing weird things in objects like clouds, patterns on wallpaper, etc...

Can you see the profile of a tiger or a mountain lion's head in this picture? Look towards the center of the image....

Can you see the face in the tree?
