I think most people had missing squares.

I google searched "connections missing clues" and found a site that had the two missing items listed, and then just guessed.  LOL

New York Times posted a "how did you do with Connections today?" and showed the full 16 squares.  I also had two empty squares.  Apparently one was a teapot and the other, I don't recall...

I still thought it was a lot of fun! Esp for April fools' day.

So the missing ones were a glitch of some kind? I wasn't sure if maybe they were supposed to be like "wild cards" or the blank tiles in Scrabble that could stand for anything.

For a moment, I feared we'd start getting more emoji Connections, but then I realized it's probably an April Fools thing.

Despite my 6/6, the Bot was complimentary. But also nutty, as always, suggesting that instead of TROLL it would have been more efficient to guess GLOOP. Why??? That doesn't contain any letters from FROND that I didn't already have.

A quibble: I would call those word homophones, not letter homophones. I mean, they're both, but people generally use them to stand in for whole words. You might say they didn't want to do the obvious thing, but the did devote a whole category to rhyming emojis.

The other one was a saw. So I guess that's the horror movie group, and the teapot (tea) was the letter homophone group.
