To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time for every purpose under heaven

Why am I posting that?

Well......My company announced back in December that there would be 1,000 employees laid off.  The layoffs were slow, and steady.

I was a member of a commercial lending team of 10 people.

In Dec., two of them were moved to another team, bringing us to 8.  A third was told that he'd be reporting to another team leader, bringing us to 7.  Our team leader was then assigned to two teams, so his time with us was split in half.  1 retired yesterday, giving us 5.  Today, one was laid off, giving us 4.  The remaining 4 were told to be on a conference call at 3pm.  When the call was over, we found one of us would be staying where we are now, but for another team.  The remaining 3 (including me) will be transferring to a new location.

It is the same travel time for me from my house.

I will have my two friends with me, but I've been here for 2 years now, and made a bunch of new friends.  I'm going to miss them.

However, I should consider myself lucky.  I still have a job.

Not putting a downer on the party here, just getting it off my chest!

Now....back to the dancing!

Chuck, I'm really sorry to hear that.  It's always so tough to go through changes like that.

You are right, the good news is that you still have a job.  But I know what it's like to have friends at work and be separated from them by organizational restructure and "downsizing."  Happened to me back in 1994 and it really hurt, because I missed those people a lot.

Hope you make lots more new friends at your new location.  And meanwhile, you'll have your two other friends with you, so that will help as you get started over there.

Best wishes.

Party on, dudes!

<<Will insert hot Keanu picture with an especially vapid expression here later>>

OK, so I liked...no hot Keanu...just an object lesson in what happens when you indulge of too much of that Wild Turkey down LA-Way.  At least it's from the right era.   ;)

See, I did come back to the party bringing my close friend!  I hope y'all had a fun day.  I actually got in trouble at work today sending some personal email, so I'm very glad I didn't also go surfing around for Keanu pics!  I am going to have to curtail my internet activities.  It would be easier if they'd actually give me work to do, tho.
