It's getting
closer .
Bumping as a reminder. There's another thread over at movie resources.
Just think, the writers are finalizing skits, Jake could be rehearsing as we speak. Or do they just wing it on Saturday?
I know SNL does a complete dress rehearsal at 8pm on Saturday, complete with commercials for timing. They gauge the audience reaction and do the final cuts/additions.
I had a friend who worked for NBC and I was in the audience twice: the hosts were Dennis Quaid and Sharon Stone (yeah, this was the late 80s). Had the whole NBC experience: Letterman in the afternoon (used to tape at 4:30), dinner at the Rainbow Room, SNL at 11:30, and then the cast party at some boite-du-jour.
Great fun to see how the show is done. The studio is really tiny. Most of the skits and Update are done right in front of the stage that you see. The sets are put up and broken down very quickly. The more elaborate sets are off to the side. Also, there are very few people in the audience. They use low camera angles to make it look bigger.
Alas, my friend no longer works for NBC, or you know where I'd be this Saturday!
