Bonjour Jess - a chilly 9F (48F) this morning with a maximim predicted of 15C (59F) - the norm!
Election results in Ontario yesterday were good for the Liberals - They repeat their victory, increasing the number of seats in parliament by 4 (71-26-10). In my riding, the Liberals sneaked in by a mere 500 votes ahead of the New Democratic Party (NDP)'s candidate. In a by-election less than 5 months ago, the NDP had wrestled the seat away from the previously held Liberal MPP (member of provincial parliament).
The Progressive Conservative (PC) leader lost in his bid to gain a seat in parliament going down against the minister of education (a lesbian) by a vote of roughly 50% to 40% (so he wasn't even close).
It's the first time in 70 years that the Liberal party of Ontario has managed to repeat two consecutive victories. The province of Ontario has been lead by governing PCs for most of those 70 years.
