"E" is Experiment in Terror (1962)

IMDB: It's San Francisco in the very early 1960's. We've never heard of Inspector Harry Callahan of the SFPD. The Giants have recently moved to town from New York. When they play the Dodgers, it's always a sellout. And tonight, the Dodgers are in town and Don Drysdale is pitching. Great night to be at Candlestick Park if you're a baseball fan, or if you're a psychopathic extortionist!

Ross Martin is absolutely terrifying as the asthmatic extortionist who kidnaps little sister Stephanie Powers and demands $100,00 from bank teller Lee Remick. Glen Ford gives perhaps his finest performance as the FBI agent in charge of the investigation. Martin instructs Remick to deliver the payoff to a sold out Candlestick Park during a Giants-Dodgers game. Real major league stars make cameos during the baseball scenes.

The late Ross Martin is sensational! If you've never seen this film, I promise you won't be disappointed.

IMDb:  This movie depicts the authentic story of the hunt for the dangerous criminal Emile Buisson, who escaped from prison in 1947. During three years Buisson manages to hide from detective Borniche by repeatedly killing his informants. When he's finally caught with help from the little criminal Paul, Buisson will have committed more than 100 robberies and killed 30 people.

Frees double-crosses Herbert and forces Wayne Morris, the owner of a small charter plane company to fly him to Glasgow. During the flight, the two men struggle and the plane crashes. Morris then sets out to find the Buddah and claim the reward to pay for his wrecked plane.

"H" is He Walked By Night (1948)
« Reply #4367 on: July 10, 2008, 03:03:54 pm »
From Wikipedia:

He Walked by Night (1948) is a black-and-white police procedural with film noir styling, crediting Alfred L. Werker as director. In reality, most of the film was directed by western/film noir director Anthony Mann. The film, shot in semidocumentary tone, was based on the real-life actions of Erwin "Machine-Gun" Walker, a psychopathic killer whose story and capture inspired one of the film's actors (Jack Webb) to create the radio and later television program Dragnet.

From IMDb:  Outlaw Jesse James and his friend, on the run from Missouri, ride into a town where a gang is trying to drive area ranchers off their land because there's oil underneath it. They take particular interest in the situation of a pretty young woman and her elderly father, whose ranch is being regularly attacked by the gang.
