Wow, Ellery didn't pause for breath there!

I never thought of Wayne's antics as a cry for attention from Ellery specifically, but looking at the pattern of his behaviour it is looking more like it is.

I think Wayne is lonely and scared and alone and like a lot of youngsters with issues he is acting up. Perhaps Ellery is the nearest thing that he has ever had to a mature male role model who didn't want anything from him. Perhaps Ellery spent more time at the bar before Ennis came along, and had more time for the patrons.

I know, I know, most of you think Wayne's a brat (and he is) but I am a sucker for a bird with a broken wing.

Ellery is showing a mature understanding of human nature and fraility. Despite his caustic tongue and tendency to fly off the handle at times - not to mention his intolerance for the whole of womankind with the possible exceptions of Edna, Carol and the odd waitress - he is demonstrating a rare patience and compassion for Wayne. Bravo Ellery!

hehehehe thank you Jo!

And I wanted to invite you to post the comments you sent to me in PM over on the Ennis and Ellery thread, I think they would be a good insight into Ennis's character!

general announcement:

I am here and writing... well, I am reviewing.  There are times when one has to go back and reread before writing further.
