today's travel destination:

Saint Catherine's Monastery, Mt. Sinai, Egypt.

Located on Mt. Sinai, from whose summit God is said to have delivered the Ten Commandments to Moses, the ancient Byzantine monastery Santa Katerina lies near the city of Neweiba, a jumping-off point for treks by foot, jeep, or camel to Sinai's Bedouin oases and nomadic camps.

Like I said yesterday, so much for Spring!!!

The car had to be scraped off today, and it was snowing when I left for work.  Grey skies and chance for more snow, highs only in the 30s, and it's supposed to be like thsi for a while.

Speaking of the car, my Tracker has been dropped off at the shop, fingers crossed that it's nothing major.  On the way home my "service engine soon" light came on.  And no, it's not a loose gas cap.  LOL

Today's travel destination is titled:

"Scraping the Asian Skies"

The Oriental Pearl Tower soars 1,535 feet into the sky in Pudong, a district of modern Shanghai often compared to New York City on steroids.  Skyscaper fever in Asia has produces a rash of structures proudly exceeding the Empire State Building's 1,250 feet, including these:

Taipei 101 Building, Taipei, Taiwan.  1,670 feet
Greenland Financial Center, Nanjing, China.  1,476 feet
Petronas Tower, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  1,483 feet
Guangzhou West Tower, Guangzhou, China.  1,435 feet.
