From the novel by Henryk Sienkiewicz:

Three Years in the Making! Thousands in the Cast! Filmed in Rome!

IMDb trivia:  In An Audience with Peter Ustinov (1988) (TV), Ustinov recalled that he had been attached to the role of Nero for over a year before filming began. During this time he received a memo from the producers, informing him that they still wanted him for the part, but were concerned that he was too young. Ustinov replied that Nero died when he was 31; if they waited much longer, he would be too old for the part. He then received a reply, which he said he had kept and treasured. The reply stated: "Historical research has proved you correct."

I'm a dedicated Ripley fan but I can't say I enjoyed Malkovitch as our favourite sociopath.

==ASIDE==
Today I received my dvd copy of Yaji & Kita: The Midnight Pilgrims from Amazon!  The 2-disc special edition, lol!  Not sure when I'll watch it though, but I'll report back once I do.
In the same order (gotta get the free shipping) is a copy of Love is the Devil because a movie with Daniel Craig in the buff is a must-have...

"U" is Up the Down Staircase (1967)

Up the Down Staircase is a 1967 drama film about the first, trying assignment for a young, idealistic teacher played by Sandy Dennis. Tad Mosel wrote the screenplay adaptation of the novel of the same name by Bel Kaufman.  The play version is frequently performed in high school drama classes. The film version was parodied in Mad under the title "In The Out Exit."

I'm too dignified to look up his bathing suit, but I might bribe a pool boy to rent me the nearest beach chair.  ;D

I didn't know that Gaspard Ulliel was romantically involved with Vincent Cassel's sister, Céline?  Apparently they were together for two years and broke up last year.  here's a cute shot of Gaspard that's new to me:
