"F" is Forget Paris (1995)

IMDB: Mickey Gordon is a basketball referee who travels to France to bury his father. Ellen Andrews is an American living in Paris who works for the airline he flies on. They meet and fall in love, but their relationship goes through many difficult patches. The story is told in flashback by their friends at a restaurant waiting for them to arrive.

"G" Is G.A.D.A.R. (2003)
« Reply #4841 on: August 26, 2008, 06:23:05 pm »
IMDb:  This short takes a broad swipe at a lot of gay stereotypes under the dramatic premise that a straight couple can brief a clueless gay boy when he's obviously missed the lecture on detecting those like himself. It seems that G.A.D.A.R. are "Gay Attributes Detectable At Range"

The jokes are OK as far as they go and I'm in favor of anything that lampoons stereotypes but this film seemed overly long for the concept.

I'm sure Bugs Bunny, Prince Charles and Miss Piggy, who are all featured would agree. (for those that really don't know... (obviously, nope just British, and DRAG QUEEN)

The real life actors all did a credible job and I'd have really liked to see the novice gay boy hook up with his intended target (who were both adorable) but that wasn't what the director had in mind.

(Not the real poster LOL)

"H" is History of the World: Part 1 (1981)

From IMDb:  From the dawn of man to the distant future, mankind's evolution (or lack thereof) is traced. Often ridiculous but never serious, we learn the truth behind the Roman Emperor, we learn what REALLY happened at the Last Supper, the circumstances that surrounded the French Revolution, how to test eunuchs, and what kind of shoes the Spanish Inquisitor wore.

"J" is Jack-Wabbit and the Beanstock (1943)
« Reply #4844 on: August 26, 2008, 09:45:46 pm »
IMDb:  I notice that "Jack-Wabbit and the Beanstalk" is one of a couple of cartoons in which Bugs Bunny's opponent is a total klutz - complete with a voice like George from "Of Mice and Men"* - whom Bugs could clobber without even trying. But even though the giant here is an easy target, it's impossible not to like the wacky series of events (or the literal ear drum).

There's one other thing that I notice. This cartoon contains an obvious WWII theme, as the brainless giant claims to be more powerful than Bugs but obviously isn't (much like the Nazis claimed to be). If this is what's going to happen to the US given the current state of affairs...well, don't say that they didn't warn us.

"K" is King of Hearts (1967)
« Reply #4845 on: August 26, 2008, 11:35:38 pm »

Synopsis
One of the most popular foreign films of its time, playing continuously in some theatres for over five years, "King Of Hearts" is a "bright, lilting, whimsical, lyrical" (Cue) comedy that cleverly satirizes the absurdity of war with a "message that is meaningful and entertaining" (Boxoffice). Bumbling Scottish Private Plumpick (Alan Bates) is sent to a village in the beautiful French countryside during World War I on a suicide mission to detonate explosives set by the retreating German army. The village, soon to be blown sky-high, has been abandoned by its inhabitants - and replaced with escapees from the local insane asylum. Now with the mentally challenged running the town, Plumpick is crowned King! But his new title brings him his first horrible decision: to carry out his deadly mission or join the ranks of the blissfully ignorant who know nothing about war. "King Of Hearts" is subtle, visually striking and, in short, the "ultimate display of madness" ("Life")!

"L" is The Lucky Dog (1921)
« Reply #4846 on: August 27, 2008, 12:10:09 am »

The Lucky Dog (1921) is the first film to include both members of the famous comedy duo of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, later known as Laurel and Hardy and is the first occasion that they worked together. Though they appear in scenes together, they play independent of each other and not as the comedic team that they would later become.

"M" is Multiplicity (1996)
« Reply #4847 on: August 27, 2008, 12:15:14 am »

From IMDb:  A comedy about a man who clones himself to save his marriage, and then almost loses his wife -- to himself! Overworked and over-scheduled, contractor Doug Kinney never has enough time for his wife and family. So when a helpful geneticist offers to "xerox" Doug, it seems like the perfect solution -- until the clones begin to take over his home, his job, and his bed.

"N" is The Next Scorsese (2006)
« Reply #4848 on: August 27, 2008, 10:44:27 am »

IMDB: The Next Scorsese is a great dark comedy film written and directed by Tom Sokalski. Its about a director who idolizes the brilliant director Martin Scorsese, and is trying to make a great movie on a next to nothing budget. Throughout this film, we are shown the ups and downs of what this director goes through to get this film done. Dealing with non-cooperative actors and situations of just plain bad luck, this film is very funny and entertaining to watch. I actually think this is an accurate portrayal of what directors really go through in the film industry, and can become very hard at times as shown in this film. Overall, if you are a fan of Martin Scorsese films or you enjoy a nice dark comedy with great acting, then this is a film for you. Very well made, and Mr. Tom Sokalski and the actors in this movie have loads of talent in their blood. 10/10, as being a great film short. Watch This!!

"O" is Ocean's 7-11 (2008)
« Reply #4849 on: August 27, 2008, 11:12:42 am »

Plot:   Clooney Ocean is the king of scams, but for once this scheme is about more than just a monetary payoff. He's a small time crook with a big time idea and with the help of his partner in crime, Dusty; they assemble a semi-skilled team of cons and crooks. Bound together by a common goal, the crew sets out to pull off the ultimate heist; well, at least a pretty good one. 7 Is The New 11! [-yeah, well it sounds really awful!]
