The second favorite room in the Cantrell/Grey household, where the doughboys and chili get made!

... Ellery went in the kitchen, lifted the cover of the kettle and took an appreciative whiff. “Damn that does smell good.” He looked around at the tidied kitchen and shook his head in wonder. “How soon till its ready?”

we interrupt this game for a bit of an announcement.

As you know, for the past several months, Leslie and I have been working on editing "Taking Chances" and approaching agents to try to get the work published.  We have been through literally dozens of revisions, and at last got a substantive reply from an agent in August, who told us in no uncertain terms that our best hope of getting 'Taking Chances' into print was to reduce its original size (153,000 words) to less than 100,000.  I did some combining and lopped off nearly 20 chapters, reduced the porn video plot about Bill and deferred that entire plot arc to the next novel as a first move, and started the more stringent editing on the revised 119,000 word manuscript.  It is now at approximately 100,00 words - I have mostly been removing sections of longer conversation, rather than elements of plot, and should be able to edit out another 2-3,000 words in the final 16,000 words I have to review.  Then, after another read-through and revision by Leslie, we should have a 96,000 to 98,000 word 'Taking Chances' revised manuscript to offer to an agent.

“Mr. Coyote always gets me good, boy,”  Ellery said, winking.  “Almost forgot what life was like before I got me my own personal coyote.”

Wow, Louise - an ambitious undertaking to be sure!  I'm exhausted just reading about it.  I know your revised manuscript will be great.  Best of luck to both of you!

Marie

that Colson packs for his new life in Tourmaline!

He lifted the now-full gunnysack out of the back, stuffing the black t-shirt down inside. That shirt had been under his pillow during his brief stay at Katie Ann’s, the one tangible item that connected him to this strange, new life he was embarking on, and as he hurried, now breathless, up to the door, he became aware once again that he was not alone. He tried the door, and it opened, and as he walked in, he glanced over at the sofa, the long lean body, all in black, topped by his black, thin-brimmed hat, tilted jauntily over one eyebrow at an angle.

Sammy Lang's brother

Leon was not Sammy's brother. He was his lover. His name is Leon Sebastian. (Unless you modifed his role and name in the new version).
