"A" is Appointment for Love (1941)
« Reply #4770 on: August 21, 2008, 06:16:23 pm »

IMDB: Playwright Andre Cassil marries Doctor Jane Alexander, who immediately takes a separate apartment so that calls upon her professional services will not interfere with his professional routine, and those calls postpone consummation of their marriage for quite a while. Then, on the one evening they are both free, they miss each other because she goes to his apartment and he goes to hers. The incident causes further complications, and the primary question is if they don't have time to consummate their marriage, how did they ever find time to have a romance that led to an unconsummated marriage.

Okay, if I can't come up with a medical themed movie for "B", can I post a Medical "B-Movie"?

"B" is Boys Beware, a mental hygene film about the dangers of homosexuality. Sorry I couldn't find a poster, so here is the movie:

The film is based on a fictitious St Swithins Hospital, with Leslie Phillips on call in place as Dr Gaston Grimsdyke who is more interested in the nurses than the patients. Grimsdyke is sacked from his job as a medical officer at a women's prison, so he enrolls in a refresher course with his old medical tutor Sir Lancelot Spratt (James Robertson Justice), he is determined to make a successful physician out of him. There are some funny complications involving a rejuvenation serum, which is accidentally injected into Sir Lancelot causing him to run amok at a party.

"H" is The Hasty Heart (1949)
« Reply #4778 on: August 22, 2008, 11:35:06 am »

From IMDb:  It's 1945, Burma, the day the war is over! For many this means they've survived and will be going home. But not for everyone. A Scottish soldier, Corporal Lachlan "Lachie" MacLachlan, is the victim of a wound to the lower back on this day. He's moved to a M.A.S.H. unit and undergoes surgery. As time goes by he begins to recover and watches, in dismay as soldiers pack up and head for home. The doctors have told him he needs to remain "for observation". The Colonel takes Sister Parker, the unit head nurse, into his confidence and tells her that the real reason Cpl. MacLachlan can't go home is because the wound he sustained destroyed one of his kidneys and the other one is defective and will shut down in three to four weeks. He asks her to put Lachlan up with some other soldiers she has waiting to go home so that he can spend his last days with friends. But Cpl. MacLachlan wants nothing to do with friends and prefers his own privacy to "idle chat". He's a hard nut to crack and their work is cut out for them to make him as comfortable as possible.
