I expect that any drabbles I write I will also post in my LJ as well, simply for continuity's sake.. I like to keep them all in one place.

I can't remember what I was dreaming about, but my first thought upon waking this morning:

I miss Ellery.

Awww... awww...

I feel so guilty now.  But - what can I say? I am waiting for an inspiration to write, something that will be fresh and new and fit into the universe I created.  So far, though, nothing has come up.

One thing I can tell you all is that I don't want to end up writing something inferior and uninspired and off-tone just because there is still a demand for it.  I write from inspiration, and if the inspiration isn't there, I just can't write it.  I know that seems odd, but that is partly why I have never desired to have a job that required me to do creative writing.  Leslie is trying to get me back on the stick of editing "Taking Chances" so we can get it to the agent that expressed an interest, so I will be putting some energy into that this weekend.  Maybe that will get me started again - handling the text.

*sigh* Don't we all, Marie... :-\

But I've finally printed Taking Chances and I've started reading it and OMG, I really love the rework/rewriting that was done on this story. I've reached the part where Bill punched Colson's lights out!  >:(  >:(

Colson and Ellery make such a great couple. I love how Ellery called Colson 'sweetheart' right from the beginning...<a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNfox000%25282%2529%2526i%253D8%252F8%255F8%255F10%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank">SmileyCentral.com" border="0

Reread Marie, reread!  :)

I'll light a candle for some good inspiration from your muse Louise.

I am nearly halfway through the editing "shrinkage" process on "Taking Chances", the goal is to reduce the size of the reworked version (the one on tcreader.livejournal.com) from 115,000 words down to less than 100,000.  In the process of doing the editing I realized "Wow, Ellery sure is gabby!" hahahahah.

Marie-me toooo!!!!! :'(

But I see Louise's response & while I doubt she could write anything I would find inferior-I get her point. I hope her editing will stir her muse!! I will confess to keeping my copy of Greenlea/Laramie under my bed & whenever I am missing my men I pull it out & read a random section. So far, that's been working to cheer me up while waiting.

You're the love of my life
And the breath in my prayers
Take my hand, lead me there

I can't forget the taste of your mouth
From your lips the heavens pour out
I can't forget when we are one
With you alone I am free

Louise   - Aww, I didn't mean to make you feel guilty!  Good God, woman, anyone who's written over a million words has nothing to feel guilty about ...., but, what can I say - you've created people who are real!  I don't think what you said about needing inspiration sounds odd at all and I completely understand that.  But, I must say I don't think "Louise" and "inferior" are in the same dictionary!  Good luck with the editing and "Gabby Ellery!"  LOL!

Fabienne - yep, I love the reworked "Taking Chances," too - and yep, re-reading is a great way to keep Ellery close by.   I'll light a candle, too!  :)

Kelly - An Ellery game is a great idea - let's put on our thinking caps.  I can think of lots of games I'd like to play with Ellery ....... ;D

Fran  Thanks for that - it's nice to know I'm not the only who keeps the boys close by   ;)

ABCs of Ellery?
« Reply #2288 on: November 07, 2007, 07:27:40 pm »
Lots of us have been having fun with various ABC games (see the ABCs board). Maybe we could start an "ABCs of Ellery" game and play it here? (This thread used to be one of the liveliest here at Bettermost, so it would be fun to get the post count up again).

Basically, you run through the alphabet, quoting things from the story....we could make it be characters, places, famous quotes, etc.

Generally in the ABC games, there is a one or two turn rule. For this, I am going to suggest we make it a one turn rule (one letter must be played before you can go again). If the game gets real lively, maybe we'll change it to a two-turn rule.

Change the subject line to show the letter being played, ie, "E" is Ellery Cantrell. In the message, post some comment or other bit of trivia--pictures are oka too--about the "thing" in your post.

I'll go first after this message. Let's see how it works.
