Nice that Billy helped put things into perspective for Ennis.  He sounds like a nice guy.  Maybe he has more in common with Ennis than Ennis realizes.   ;)  Maybe he doesn't just want to hear Ennis's general plans, but the juicy bits as well.

 :)

Wow!  What a beautiful chapter, Littlewing.  What an ending.  Very gratifying.  Who would have suspected OMT coming through in the end.  Finally, for once in his life, he didn't hold his son back, but actually helped him on his journey.

Will you continue with the story.  Do we get to find out what happens to Jack and Ennis after this?

Thanks, Gary!  Of course we'll continue.  Toycoon will write the next chapter, I suppose.  If he can't, then I'll take over for awhile.  Right is nowhere near finished!

You do have to wonder if Lureen suspected anything.  She was a smart girl, and she seemed to know a thing or two about the ways of the world.  Great story, Littlewing.  I kept wanting Jack to just say it.  Lureen, we hunt, fish, eat, and we have sex.

Can you imagine Jack "treating" Lureen to all the details of their mind-blowing sex?  To be a fly on the wall!

LaShawn

LaShawn wondered if her husband was aware that she knew.  LaShawn learned almost immediately after marrying him that her husband liked men.  She wanted to scream from the time Jack and Lureen picked them up, until they left the charity dance.  LaShawn couldn’t help but notice Jack’s beauty and was certain that Randall would notice, as well.

LaShawn was a very unhappy woman.  She was wound tight, always, a frightened woman married to a man who rarely touched or talked to her.  LaShawn learned to talk for the both of them.  She never shut up at the charity dinner.  She never shut up anywhere!  LaShawn noticed her husband trying to be so damned discreet as he checked Jack out.  If he had paid the same attention to Lureen, she could have handled it; she may have been able to compete.  But it didn't happen that way.  She saw Randall practically throw a kiss in Jack's direction.  It was almost unbearable.  LaShawn did what she usually did when she was miserable and nervous: talk!

LaShawn reasoned that talking a mile a minute would prevent her from thinking about how sad her life had become.  If she talked a blue streak she didn’t have to face all the times when Randall left her alone for days at a time, only to return home smelling of male bodily fluids.  When Jack asked her to dance it was a great relief.  At least now someone would actually pay some attention to her, no matter how basic and innocent.  And she would talk non stop in an effort to chase away the loneliness and to forget.

Very insightful, Littlewing.  I have often gotten the impression that people who can't seem to stop talking are trying to avoid something.  Either they're trying to run away from thoughts inside their own heads, or they're trying to keep the conversation from going in a direction that would make them uncomfortable.  It's rather heartbreaking when you see someone who is so nervous they can't shut up.

Gary, this is a treat!  I'm so glad to see you here.  Hey, babe, how about another Daniel and Tyler story?  I sure miss those 2.

Hey there Gary,
Thanks for the info! I rarely check the front page of BetterMost for news; I would have never known about the new site.

Hi everybody,

You may have heard that Phillip is thinking about expanding Bettermost’s spinoff site, MIG.  If you’ve not, check out his posted comments in the Town Hall.  Even though MIG is more “adult” oriented than Bettermost, there are currently no pornographic images there.  Restrictions do not allow pictures that show sexual activity, genitalia from any angle, or anuses.  In my opinion most parents wouldn’t mind their teenagers seeing these images.  So I don’t think there’s anything there that would shock the average person.  However, I know that people have different comfort levels in these matters, so I’ve suggested that we have a section for more tame images.

Phillip has proposed that MIG might be a good place to post fiction and fanfiction that deals more frankly with sexuality.  I’ve suggested that writers self-rate their stories and list some of the details that might shock some of our members at the top of their posts.  I think this will help create a space where writers can post what they want, and where readers can pick and choose among the selections according to their own tastes.

I’ve also suggested that MIG might be a good place to share a wide variety of images, pictures of nature, art, architecture, personal photos...  I’m hoping that MIG can be a welcoming and safe place for all Bettermost members.

Phillip has asked for our input, so come on over to MIG, click on the Male Image Gallery Info Forum, and look for the MIG New Directions thread.  You can post your comments and suggestions there.  I’ll bet many of you have some really great ideas, so please come on over and share them.  And while you’re there, take a gander at the galleries.  There are some nice lookin’ guys for you to admire just a few clicks away.

Gary

Wow, I didn't know any of this!  Thanks for the info, Gary!  I'll go over and add my 2 cents!  :)

Care Package
« Reply #3387 on: April 29, 2008, 12:35:51 am »
Aguirre rode in on his mare, holding a rather large package.  Jack was bent over a small lamb, massaging its delicate shank.  Ennis was positioned by the stream, washing the tin dinnerware.  “Twist,” Aguirre shouted, “Ya ma sent you this and asked me to bring it up to ya.”  Aguirre never climbed down from his horse, but threw the package at Jack.  Jack caught it but was furious that his boss could be so rude.  What if he missed the parcel and it fell to the ground?  What if there was something fragile inside?  It would be just like Jack to drop, or miss the package outright if it was thrown at him.  Oh well, Aguirre was nice enough to ride out there and deliver it personally.  He didn’t have to take the trouble.  “Thanks, Mr. Aguirre,” Jack mused as he inspected the package.  It was heavy and bore his name and not much else.  Aguirre barely nodded as he turned his horse north and rode away.

“Hey look, friend, a care package,” Jack shouted to Ennis as he walked to the tent to fetch a knife to open it up.  Ennis was silent.  As he walked to the tent, Jack noticed a slight tensing of his friend’s shoulders when he mentioned the package, and felt like a fool for acting all excited about it.  Poor Ennis - up on Brokeback an entire month and nothing - not even a letter.  It saddened Jack, even though this parcel was the first and destined to be the only thing he received up on the mountain.  Jack noticed that Ennis never even turned toward him.  He felt for his friend, practically all alone in the world.  Jack would try to make it bearable, though.

Jack found a small knife, perfect for breaking the seal on the package.  While Ennis continued to wash the tin ware, Jack had an idea.  He quickly ran to the tent and found a pen.  He wrote Ennis’ name right next to his on the parcel.  “Hey Ennis, Jack shouted, very excited now.  “Don’t you want to come see what we got?”  Ennis turned toward Jack at the mention of we.  “What do you mean, we?” Ennis asked, incredulous.  “I mean my ma sent this stuff for the both of us.  Come on and get yer chocolate chip cookies before I’m tempted to eat them all.”  Ennis’ heart melted.  He knew Jack was telling a tale.  He smiled as he walked to join his friend, amazed at his loving gestures.  Jack took care of him practically from the time they met.  Ennis felt unconditionally loved for the first time in his life, and in his own way, he loved Jack.  Ennis crouched next to his pal and watched as he pulled out cookies, a canned ham, a couple loaves of bread, mustard, a jar of cherries and a large can of cranberry juice.  Toward the bottom of the parcel lay several bars of soap.  Ennis laughed as Jack inspected the soap.  “How did your ma even know that I’m here,” Ennis asked, playfully.  “Well…Jack stammered..I got word to her through Aguirre.”  Jack lowered his eyes, but Ennis wasn’t through.  He was having fun.  “And when was this, Rodeo?”  “Listen, Friend, Jack mumbled, “do you want to eat or not?  How about I make us a couple of sandwiches out of this ham?”  Ennis’ eyes watered a bit.  “Okay,” he managed.  The sandwiches were eaten and the boys lay out in the shade, satisfied.  Ennis had a bar of soap in his hand and looked at Jack.  “What do ya say we take a bath in the stream?”  Jack relished the thought of soaping Ennis’ beautiful body.  He rose and headed toward the stream, peeling off his clothes.  “First one in…!!”

Hi Littlewing.   :)  I'm starting to miss Daniel and Tyler, too.  I'll have to write more about them soon.

I can't wait!  :)  :-*

Riding through the notch in the forested hills, they gazed at the ranch spread across the green valley floor before them.  As a rule, he kept his emotions in check, but not now, not riding up here alone with his one and only. Ours, he thought, with his heart swelling, not bad for a rodeo fuckup and a dirt-poor orphan. Sure am glad I said 'yes, sir' and not 'no way in hell' last time he asked about that sweet life.  Laughing he spurred Cigar Butt and yelled, "Beat ya home!" "Not a chance," Jack yelled back, spurring Twister forward.
